The certification is necessary to protect the health and safety of people who work on electric and hybrid vehicles. What makes EV servicing unique?
Regular servicing can assist to identify issues with your electric car before they truly become problems, even though an EV requires fewer moving components and fluid changes. To prevent future expensive repairs, preventative maintenance is essential. It’s crucial to have routine inspections of these components performed by our skilled teams because electric vehicles’ wear rates for parts like brakes and tyres can vary from those of conventional ICE vehicles. They may also have additional filters or cooling systems that require maintenance, in addition to having differing maintenance requirements (no engine oil change for a start!).
It’s also critical to keep in mind that some EVs’ air conditioning systems are now crucial in ensuring that the battery is maintained at the ideal temperature for maximum effectiveness and longevity. You can find out exactly when your service is due and how long there should be between each service in the owner’s manual for your car.

Contact us to discuss in more detail as we may need a bit more information about your vehicle to make the booking.
How often should I get my EV serviced?
Most electric vehicles need servicing much less frequently than either petrol or diesel cars. For example, Renault recommends intervals of 18,000 miles for the Zoe2, compared to 9,000 miles for its petrol cars.1
Volkswagen electric cars – such as the ID.3 and ID.4 – have a fixed service schedule like combustion-engined vehicles, with the first inspection due after two years. Following that, it is recommended that a service is carried out annually or every 18,000 miles, whichever comes up first.1
Hyundai has similar electric vehicle service plan intervals for its petrol and hybrid cars, at 10,000-mile intervals in the first year, 20,000 miles in the second year and so on, whichever milestone is reached sooner. The BMW i3 has two-year or 18,000-mile service intervals.1
